Fix: Error 1004 - Unable to initialize MTINST.DLL or System Error

When installing (or upgrading or starting) Terrain Navigator Pro, I receive the following error message:
Error 1004
Unable to initialize MTINST.DLL - The Installation Wizard can not run. Please be sure your copy of Windows includes all updates. Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from Microsoft.
-or-
ComponentSetup.exe - System Error
The program can't start because MSVCP.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

-or-
Error: Cannot load a required component (vision.dll). Cannot start.

That error indicates that the MSVC libraries (Microsoft Visual Studio C 2015, version 14) required by Terrain Navigator Pro were unable to be installed. In our experience, this error may occur on machines that have not have any updates from Microsoft (for Windows 7) applied to it in several years.

Please ensure that your copy of Microsoft Windows is up-to-date with the latest fixes and patches. Updates can be applied manually or automatically using the Windows Control Panel.

Once this is complete, then Terrain Navigator Pro should be able to install properly.

Alternatively, you can try downloading the MFC fixes and libraries directly from Microsoft.
For older versions of Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows

You likely will need the x64 (or 64 bit) version of the download; depending on your version of Windows.

I am using Windows XP.  Is there a patch available to install Terrain Navigator Pro on this antiquated operating system?
No. Terrain Navigator Pro is no longer compatible with Windows XP. Microsoft is no longer offering patches and libraries that can be used in that environment.

Note: We do not guarantee the suitability or availability of the above patches/links for your computer or installation. Please refer to your IT professional, computer support team or Microsoft for additional details, instructions, etc.
