GPS Location Errors

Some phones have unique settings or other conditions that can hinder the position display and/or accuracy of position tracking. These are noted here.

Any Phone
Overheating can interfere with GPS reception. In fact, some phones will overheat whenever it is stored close to the body - especially in summer months. If the phone is running hot (perhaps due to a faulty battery or a non-ventilated case) be sure to let it cool by temporarily removing the battery. Or, consider storing it in a separate pouch, loose leg pocket, or on an external attachment point. Use the GPS status indicator in the TNP Mobile App (upper right-hand corner) to ascertain when the GPS signal may be compromised.

Always On Display

The Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930V (and perhaps similar models) has a Display & Wallpaper setting: Always On Display. Ensure that Show Always is On to enable tracking in TNP.

Disable HD Voice

On certain phones, the "HD Voice" (also known as VoLTE) setting can interfere with proper GPS operations. Consult your phone's documentation to determine how to disable HD Voice, or refer to these general steps below.

Disabling HD Voice on an Android Phone:
Go to Settings.
Tap Advanced Calling under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
Tap Advanced Calling again and set it to Off.

If you have an older device like Samsung Galaxy S® 5 or Motorola Droid Ultra / Maxx / Mini, follow these steps to turn HD Voice on or off:
Go to Settings.
Tap More Networks or Tethering & Networks.
Tap Mobile Networks.
Tap the VoLTE Call setting and set it to Off.

Disabling HD Voice on an iPhone:
Tap Settings
Tap Cellular
Tap Enable LTE
Tap Voice & Data and set the selection to Data Only.

Note: The HD Voice instructions were provided by Verizon. Specific phones and other carriers may differ. Terrain Navigator Pro does not warrant the success of these steps.
