TXF Conversion Tools: LOG

Introduction

This is a collection of various conversion tools designed to take files containing series of geographically referenced points created by other applications and enable those points to be imported into Terrain Navigator Pro.

Specifically, one format conversion tool is included:
  1. LOG2TXF converts Magellan GPS .LOG files into Terrain Navigator Pro's .TXF format.
(Additional conversion tools may be added as time and resources permit.)

Use the File/Import command of Terrain Navigator Pro to bring in the files created by these utilities into your Terrain Navigator Pro Projects.

LOG2TXF - Magellan GPS

Log files can be "dumped" from some Magellan GPS units. These dumps can contain track data that can be read by LOG2TXF and converted into Terrain Navigator's .TXF format.

.LOG Files
The Track record of LOG files are made up of the following:
$PMGNTRK,Latitude,a,Longitude,a,xxxxx,a,hhmmss.ss,A,c----c,ddmmyy*hh

For the purposes of .TXF import, only the Latitude/Longitude is used.

Refer to Sample.LOG for an example.

Doing A Conversion
Running LOG2TXF will allow you to select a .LOG file. Then a .TXF (track) file will be created. This file can be imported as a single Track in Terrain Navigator Pro.

Please note that the track will be named "Track from Magellan LOG file." You should rename the track to something more descriptive once it has been imported into Terrain Navigator. Also, multiple tracks contained within a single .LOG file will be concatenated together as a single track.

Please refer to the electronic documentation that accompanies Terrain Navigator Pro for specifics on the .TXF file format.
