Markers can be employed to create waypoints within a route. This is useful if you have one or more locations that you would like to share between routes, or to place (or collect via GPS) waypoints, then connect them into routes at some later time.
To Create a Route from existing Markers
- Select Routes from the Layers menu in Terrain Navigator Pro.
- Press New to create a new route. The route, however, will not contain any waypoints (yet.)
- In the Route Waypoints/Legs window, press New. This will create the first waypoint in the route.
- In the New Waypoint window, you will note the place to type the name of the new Waypoint. Just to the right, there is a down arrow. Press this to see a list of all the existing Markers in the active project. Select any one of these and its name and coordinates will be copied from the Marker into the new Waypoint. Press OK to create the waypoint.
- Repeat this for each new waypoint until the route is completed. Press Close to exit the Route Waypoints/Legs window.
To add a Marker to the end of an existing Route
- Select Routes from the Layers menu in Terrain Navigator Pro.
- Select the route that you wish to edit from the list of routes and press Edit.
- In the Routes Waypoints/Legs window, a list of waypoints will appear. Press New to create a new waypoint.
- In the New Waypoint window, you will note the place to type the name of the new Waypoint. Just to the right, there is a down arrow. Press this to see a list of all the existing Markers in the active project. Select any one of these and its name and coordinates will be copied from the Marker into the new Waypoint. Press OK to create the waypoint and add it to the end of the existing route.
- Repeat this for each new waypoint until the route is completed. Press Close to exit the Route Waypoints/Legs window.
Please Note
This procedure copies the marker into the route's waypoint. As such, the original marker still exists (and unless hidden, will be displayed on the map.) Thus, you may wish to hide the marker from the display (or delete it entirely.) Choose Layer Size/Visibility from the View menu to hide and show various markers, etc. If deletion is desired, choose Markers from the Layers menu.
