Open Maps Screen
Please return to the Open Maps Screen from TNP 10. The updated Open Maps Screen in TNP 11 is useless. An aerial photo of my state and surrounding states with no delineation, highways or county lines is nearly impossible to start navigation. I enjoyed the old Open Maps Screen because you could click on a quadrant in a county and it would take you right where you need to go. Now i have to guess where to start, zoom in and wait for TNP to catch up. Its inefficient and difficult to use; more time in the office messing with maps means less field time and less money i bring in.
If it is not possible to have the old style open maps screen with counties and specific area maps then you should at least have the state and counties delineated, and highlight with major highways and cities.
Due to our need to provide maps beyond the USGS grid model, the “Open Map” window had to be retired.
That said, there are far easier (and efficient) ways to select maps (and set specific starting locations) in TNP 11. For details, please see: https://tnp.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1110553
Finally, when scaled out, the USGS, Terrain, and Street map types will all show various features/boundaries/roadways. These maps are far superior than the simple “county map” that was present in the prior version of TNP.

I wanted to vote for this idea, but it has been denied. I have used your software for many years because it has provided a simple interface to use USGS maps and aerials without all the extra baggage. IMHO the shift toward "superior" has some useful features, but it also is bringing this system right inline with the rest of the herd of map programs like Google Earth. Those features that made TNP different were where I have found value in TNP. As the program becomes more complicated, it takes longer to load, and is less stable. That diminishes its value to me when I need to allow extra time to load, then navigate. Please, remember the KISS principle.

Check the article I provided ( https://tnp.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1110553 ) for answers to all of these concerns. For example, once TNP 11 has learned your viewing habits and locations, it will perform as fast as prior versions.

If I wanted superior i would get Esri ArcGIS. I, and probably everyone else want simplicity but practicality. TNP offers great practical use but this shift to "superiority" has slowed everything down. Now, TNP barely works half the time and due to its slow nature I find myself using my bosses computer that has not been updated yet. We are the working class, time is money. I look to get in the office, do my work and get out. Even if i use these other "easier and efficient ways to select maps" the updated program takes forever to load anything.
