To export tiif images w/ a user-defined area, the registration is poor, particularly between adjacacent images.
This can easily be tested by aligning several images. Pl;ease fix this, it has been a problem for years now. We are talking about errors of 50 feet or better between images (Texas).

User-defined export area, across multiple quad sheets, is a new feature of TNP 11, released 12/1/2016.

Specifying an user-defined area for export is not meant to align across adjacent topos. Instead, use the No Collar option.
Also, be aware that the maps are being reprojected to match the settings you specify. This will often cause the maps to appear slanted. Because images must be rectangular, use the Adjacent Map mask to cause the topos to overlap each other, or the color mask to set a color that can be masked out by your GIS software.
If you are not using the maps in a GIS program (which should be registering them properly - even if they overlap) then you may want to consider using the Rectify or Copy projections. These will guarantee that the topos will align with each other (unless the datum between two adjacent maps does not match.)
